Maître D‘ Hôtel

F & B Department · Hotel Position

In this unique role you will act as key figure in creating a superior restaurant experience for passengers. The Maître d’ ensures that the first impression guests have of the dining area is a positive one and that the service they receive consistently exceeds their expectations. This translates into exceptional management and supervisory abilities and excellent communication skills. The Maître d’ leads an international team and motivate them to consistently provide guests with a 5-star experience. The Maître D’ is able to resolve crises and remain calm in a pressured environment. Together with their team, they create an impeccable dining experience for guests. We are looking for candidates with experience in similar positions (maître d’hôtel, restaurant manager).

Requirements:

  • ability to communicate fluently in German and/or English
  • several years of experience as a Maître D’ on river ships, or 4 & 5 start hotel
  • ability to deal stylishly with all our guests in the restaurant
  • supervisory skills
  • conflict resolution skills
  • ability to assist with the organisation of various on-board F&B events
  • candidates with cruise experience will be preferred

Responsibilities:

  • in charge with the overall maintenance of the restaurant
  • ensure that the appearance of the restaurant (waiter stations, tables, linen, silver, crockery) are up to the standards of 5-star service
  • lead an international service team
  • mentor and provide on-the-job training to new members
  • avoid over-stocking and keep operational cost within the set limits
  • make sure that all staff members are familiar with the sanitation regulations
