Baker

Galley Department · Hotel Position

The Baker is passionate about their craft and highly skilled at creating superior, handcrafted breads, rolls, muffins and biscuits – all made with the finest ingredients – for cruise ship guests and crew members. They are friendly and courteous and, when required, are able to show off their baking talents in demonstrations for guests, or share recipes with them. The Baker is hard working and a team player, and is able to take orders from their superiors. You should work in an organized, efficient and sanitary manner, and be able to support the team in various functions. We are looking for candidates with experience in similar positions (baker, bakery clerk, bread associate, German: Bäcker).

Requirements:

  • specialist in baked goods with professional baker qualification
  • experience as baker in restaurants, hotels or on cruise vessels
  • very good knowledge of ISO quality systems and HACCP procedures
  • ability to communicate efficiently with the Executive Chef and the rest of the team in English or German
  • cost and quality awareness
  • self-motivation, reliability and creativity

Responsibilities:

  • prepare bread, rolls, danish, muffins, and biscuits for guests and crew members
  • helps avoid wastage
  • lead bakery demonstrations for guests as per daily program
  • carefully handle relevant equipment and machinery in the galley
  • help with the loading of food, beverage, laundry and other items
