Purser

Front Office Department · Hotel Position

The Purser is a people person, interacting with guests, leading the reception team and liaising with the Hotel Manager. The Purser is highly professional in manner and appearance and handles stressful situations gracefully. They also display strong organisational skills, managing and adjusting daily cruise and crew schedules as needed and handling financial matters, including onboard sales and passenger accounts. In addition, the Purser handles responsibility well and is in charge of crew and guest documentation and passports when required.

Requirements:

  • very good knowledge of German and English
  • excellent organisational skills and a strong sense of responsibility
  • effective communicator with good interpersonal skills
  • substantial experience in front office operations of river ships or 4 & 5 star hotels
  • highly skilled in computer operations and systems.
  • ability and trustworthiness to handle and be accountable of cash transaction of the front office operations

Nice to have:

  • professional experience in reception or experience aboard a ship is a distinct advantage for this position
  • knowledge of French is a plus

Responsibilities:

  • provide leadership and training for the entire reception team
  • liaise with and assist Hotel Manager in all administrative tasks
  • manage crew and task schedules
  • accurate billing of passengers, accounting and preparation of relevant reports
  • organize and ensure efficient and smooth check-in and check-out procedures as per company directives
  • correct and responsible handling of passenger and crew documentation and passports
  • offer support for customs inspections during Black Sea cruises
